Why we established this scheme

The Student and Community First Responders scheme (SCFR) is set up in memory of Douglas Gray Stephens, a keen First Aider both at work and at home. Because Douglas lived too near to Melbourn ambulance station, he was not able to become a Community Responder. We aim to give everyone with an interest in First Aid and aiding their community the opportunity to contribute to the scheme, irrespective of their location and experience.

Funding

Our Student and Community First Responder scheme is financially self-supporting through donations and fund-raising events.

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides all necessary training and the loan of medical equipment. However the cost of the car and other equipment is met entirely by a variety of fundraising events and donations.

All contributions are welcome and could help to save a life in your community.

How to donate

We are very grateful of any donations. If you would like to donate please contact us and we can provide further details.

Donations to the scheme are held in a sub-account of the East Of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust Charitable Funds, registered charity number 1047987.
